| 1. On the desktop, double-click on the My Computer icon. 2.
Windows 95/98 users double-click on the Dialup Networking folder.
Windows ME users will need to double-click on the Control Panel,
and then double-click on the Dialup Networking folder.
3. Double-click on the Make New Connection icon. You should see
the following box open:

4. As indicated in the box above, change the name of the
computer you are dialing from My Connection to Thrift Internet.
5. Click Next. You should see the following box:

6. Leave the Area code field blank, and then enter the access
number in the box indicated for Telephone number. If you aren't
sure of your access number please Click Here
to go to our access number lookup utility page.
In most cases you will simply enter the 7-digit access number.
However, if your phone company requires you to dial your area code
when calling local numbers then you must precede the access number
with the area code. If this is your situation, do not enter the area code into the
Area
code box, enter it along with the access number on the Telephone
number box, exactly as if you were dialing the number with a
telephone.
If you have call-waiting you may wish to disable the call
waiting feature during online sessions. You can disable
call-waiting by preceding the access number with *70, (including
the comma). Do not use *70, if you do not have call waiting.
7. Click Next. You should see the following box:

8. Click Finish. You will be returned to the Dialup Networking
folder, and you should see a new icon called Thrift Internet.
9. Right-click on the Thrift Internet icon and select
Properties. You should see the following box:

10. Uncheck the "Use area code and Dialing Properties box, as
indicated above.
11. Windows 95/98 users click on the Server Types tab (Windows
ME users can skip this step). You should see the following box:

Uncheck the "Log on to network" box, as indicated above.
12. Click OK. You will be returned to the Dialup networking
folder again.
13. Right-click on the Thrift Internet icon, and select Create
Shortcut. You will then click Yes to drop the new shortcut on the
desktop.
14. Return to the desktop. You should see the new icon on your
desktop.
15. Double-click on the Thrift Internet icon. It should look
like this box:

16. Enter your entire email address into the field for User
name, as indicated above (substituting your unique username for
"smith", of course). Also enter your Password. It is convenient to
check the "Save password" box.
17. Click Connect to go online.
